Good food makes a difference. Since October 1997 Sister's Camelot has been sharing hundreds of cases of organic fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy bulk foods for free each week. The food is what you would see at co-ops like Linden Hills, North Country, The Seward, Mississippi Market or the Wedge. Most of the food is donated by area organic and natural food wholesalers including Roots & Fruits, Blooming Prairie, J & J Distributing and Co-op Partner's Warehouse. Donations are also made by local gardeners and organic farms.
Special thanks goes to the Garden Farme in Ramsey, MN for donating fresh produce from their permaculture farm and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
Sister'sCamelot is a 501c.3 non-profit corporation sharing food, sustainability and inspiration in the inner city. In 2000, $1,000,000.00 worth of food was shared, financed by only $130,000 in private donations, and small grants, including awards from the Minnesota Environmental Education Association, Prince's Foundation (Love4oneanother) and TCF Bank.
We have also helped a lot with community gardens and urban composting. During the summer we offer an outdoor free (or super cheap) community kitchen, tours of organic farms and other special events. Please get into volunteering if you want to help people, the environment and the future. Why can't we change the world?
