Restoring the Land
COMMUNITY GARDENING:
Sister's Camelot provides compost for local community gardens, creating rich organic soil and renewing city land. We also have a community garden plot with which we supply or food share and mobile kitchen with fresh herbs in the summertime. Our goal is to bring people closer to our Mother Earth, so that they may learn that they can help provide the healthy food to sustain their community.
REGIONAL ORGANIC FARMS:
During the growing season, volunteers visit local organic farms and Community Supported Agriculture farms. We have participated in tours, workshops and gleaning (harvesting from the fields after it is no longer profitable for the farmer to do so). CSA farmers allow us to glean because our volunteers share the harvest for free in the city where it is needed. We held a revisioning conference in 2003 - check it out.
